Adidas F50 Leather Review
I recently picked up a pair of F50's at the Adidas Tent Sale for an incredible price! If you can, see if your city has one coming up. Regardless, I typically wear a size 11, but I didn't realize until after I bought the pair that they were actually 11.5! My woe was great, but the nevertheless, I decided to wear them for one kickaround to see how they performed. To watch my video review, click below:
Appearance
Obviously, these cleats have a rather provocative colorway. I like it, but I honestly wouldn't say it's my favorite. The blue has a nice sheen to it, and pairs well with the slime shaded green. But colors don't amount to an ounce of performance, do they?
Performance
Whether or not their design is appealing, these boots no doubt pack a punch. The Goleo leather upper (cow leather that's treated to be softer) is amazing. Touch on the ball is superb, and I'm assuming it will mold well to the foot after a decent break in.
The laces are off-centered in an effort to provide better strike on the ball, and shots feel solid and satisfying. Crossing is average, so a winger may prefer a boot optimized for power, such as the Adipower, but for the weight of this boot, the strike is excellent.
Passing feels good, although the instep material is a bit awkward at first. Adidas assume most people using this boot will be receiving the ball rather than distributing, so this is no problem.
The stud configuration is the typical Adidas sprintframe, and grip is quite good. I felt as if I could cut and turn on a dime.
Touch-8.5
Shots-8.5
Crossing-7
Passing-7
Comfort/Grip-9
Total-40 *****
Overall, these are fantastic boots, and although you may prefer getting the newest miCoach's, consider these, as you can find them on ebay for less than $90, and they still perform superbly.
Best For: Strikers, very pacey Attacking Mid's
